Known and Unknown: A Memoir by Donald Rumsfeld
i have to laugh. in 2003 hart seely had a piece in slate called "The Poetry of D.H. Rumsfeld," featuring several of rummy's public utterances set as lines of verse.
most of them had themes related to the subject of knowing. epistemological poetry, one might say.
here's a sample:
The Unknown
As we know,
There are known knowns.
There are things we know we know.
We also know
There are known unknowns.
That is to say
We know there are some things
We do not know.
But there are also unknown unknowns,
The ones we don't know
We don't know.

one of those things he apparently didn't know he didn't know but should have known was how stupid it was to invade iraq. i think i heard mike scheuer say the invasion was a godsend to osama bin laden, or words similar to that.
