The only Republican I've voted for since 1984 is John Warner (mostly for self-serving reasons, the old 'all politics is local' thing), but time and again he's pleasantly surprised me.
ReplyDeleteSad thing is, he's likely retiring in 08, so he'll either be replaced by a winger-Republican (he's despised by many in that party, since he endorsed Dem. Chuck Robb over serial Criminal and Liar Oliver North a decade ago), or the Democrats have a chance at the seat. Here's hoping.
u called it, babe! as all now know, he's retiring.
ReplyDeletei'd dispute the local politics voting only 2 the xtent it has negative side fx. what i mean is, a few 'good' gops kept the party in the majority n the hard-liners therefore in control. i'm in PA n think specter's pretty good n has lotta seniority n all, but i voted against him even tho his opponent didn't measure up, cuz strategy demanded it.
i suspect that's wha happened in RI, 2, but on a big nuff scale 2 beat chafee.
