Presidential hopeful Romney criticizes Democratic rival Clinton as European caricature

that's funny, i was just thinking tony blair is a euro cartoon. (see below.)

but it's interesting to get reminded what gops mean by "big government":

"Her view is the old, classic, European caricature that we describe of big government, big taxation, welfare state," said the former Massachusetts governor.

my idea of what it means is somewhat different, so i googled it. the wiki article more or less covers the contrasting meanings, but let me sum up my spin:

to cons and libertarians, "big government" means "tax & spend," which is also how gops describe dems.

to leftists, it means intrusion, repression, and domination, which is what the left says right-wing regimes do.

neither side likes it, but for different reasons, since they don't agree on the definition.
