i must've got it wrong

yesterday i turned on c-span just before the house of reps began debate on whether to increase this year's funding of the low income home energy assistance program.

a congessman was standing on the house floor.

i thought i heard him say it was hypocrisy to add funds to LIHEAP when we're not trying other means to lower energy prices, such as drilling in ANWR.

i wasn't recording. i'll have to look it up in the congressional record. i must've heard it wrong.

surely he knows ANWR can't lower the price of crude oil. it'd be a drop in the bucket on the world market.

and how does not drilling there make it hypocrisy to help poor folk pay their bills so they won't have to choose between electricity, food, medications, and rent? are the poor responsible for the high price of crude?
